Hitler has forced Europe to realize that an attack on one faith or religion is an attack upon all, Leslie Hore-Belisha, former Secretary for War, declared here addressing a meeting to launch the campaign of the Masaryk-Gaster Fund for funds to establish a Lidice memorial colony in Palestine. “The idea of connecting Palestine and Czechoslovakia through a new colony of Lidice demonstrates the united spirit of the free peoples,” he added.
Sir Herbert Emerson, director of the Inter-Governmental Refugee Committee, declared that he supported the plan to establish the new colony, firstly, in view of Palestine’s contribution to the refugee problem, and secondly, as a tribute to the great spirit of Czechoslovakia. Other speakers included the Bishop of London, Lord Strabolgi and Arthur Greenwood and Jan Stanczyk, Polish Minister of Labor.
