The Czechoslovak Government-in-Exile today took steps to ascertain the truth of a report received here from Stockholm that the Gestapo has decided to “liquidate” the Jewish ghetto in Therezin where tens of thousands of Jews from Germany and Austria have been literally dumped by the German authorities.

It was pointed out in Czechoslovak circles here that many similar rumors have recently reached Stockholm credited to various sources. They are apparently based on the fact that last Summer the Gestapo established a huge concentration camp in Birkenau, Upper Silesia, to which several thousand Jews from the Therezin ghetto were transferred in the beginning. The possibility was not excluded here that more Jews from Therezin are being sent to the Birkenau camp and that the Therezin ghetto is due for liquidation.
