In a cabled report from London, Dr. Stephen S. Wise, discussing the acquittal of Abraham Stavsky and the attitude of the Jewish Laborites in Palestine, said:
“Because the Histadruth (the Jewish Labor organization) is virtually the Jewish government of Palestine we have the right to ask that it demand of its followers moderation and conciliation. The Jewish people asks the Histadruth to observe the dignity of a responsible government.”
Similar references to the Histadruth as “the Jewish government” in Palestine have been made before.
