Daniel Persky, honorary president and a founder of the Histadruth Ivrith of America, died early this morning after a short illness at the age of 74. He was considered the dean of Hebrew writers in America.
Born in Minsk, Russia, he came to this country in 1906 and immediately began devoting his time to fostering the revival of the Hebrew language both in its written and spoken forms. He was a well known and prolific author and editor. He edited and contributed to Hebrew newspapers both in the United States and in Israel. He turned out many books, the most recent, Lashon Nekiah, dealing with Hebrew philology and published a month ago.
