The French Government has decided to ask the Moroccan Government for an official explanation of the death sentence imposed in absentia on Moshe Daian, an interpreter who served with the French forces in Morocco before the North African country gained its independence. A Moroccan military court yesterday condemned M. Daian and two French officers charged with having committed “treason” against the Moroccan Liberation Army.
Meanwhile, voices have been raised in the French Senate for abrogation of French financial assistance programs and the withdrawal of French investments from Morocco as a protest against the military courts decision.
