Death Sentence Pronounced for 3 Arabs Found Guilty of Murder in Safed Attack

Three Arabs of Safed were sentenced to death at three-thirty this afternoon in the Haifa District Court by Chief Justice Sir Michael MacDonnel. They were found guilty of conspiring with one another and participating in action endangering Jewish life and property and causing the death of Isaac Mamaan, Jewish mechanic of Safed, after leading a hostile demonstration. The condemned are Ahmed Jabour and the brothers Raneim of Safed.

When sentence was pronounced the prisoners declared, “Allah knows the truth.” No demonstration was staged by Arabs who filled the courtroom and were ranged outside awaiting the verdict.

Summing up the case for the prosecution against the three Safed Arabs charged with the murder of Isaac Mamaan. State Attorney Sherwell said: “All the witnesses for the prosecution were truthful and convincing.
