Declaring that “the appalling headway which Fascist philosophy, with its recrudescence of medieval anti-Semitism is making in the world of today holds a warning which, if not heeded, will bring disaster to the Jewish people,” Morris Rothenberg, president of the Zionist Organization of America, warned members of the United Zionist Committee of Washington Heights and Inwood celebrating fifteen years of Zionist activities in their district that “the wisest heads and the most courageous spirits among us must come together to plan a strategy of defense against this terrifying menace before it is too late.
“In the plans that are to be evolved,” Mr. Rothenberg continued, “must be included, of course, constructive measures for meeting the problem of those Jews who already have become the victims of Nazi insensate hatred, or of others who tomorrow may have a similar fate.”
