President Truman’s statement that he will not approve any settlement of the Palestine issue which does not have the approval of Israel “affirms his position and that of the Democratic Party in strong support of the nation of Israel,” Congressman John W. McCormack, of Massachusetts and Democratic ship in the House, declared in a statement issued by his office here today.
“As soon as the election takes place in Israel and the constituent body of that nation is elected, our country should and will, in my opinion, give Israel immediate de jure recognition and also insist upon its immediate admission into the United Nations,” he said.
