The Jewish protest demonstration against the decision of the British government to suspend Jewish immigration into Palestine will be held here today, Thursday, at 5 P. M. It is expected that thousands of Jews will participate in the demonstration.

The protest parade will commence on Madison Square near the Metropolitan Tower, and will then proceed along Fifth Avenue to 14th Street, across 14th Street to Second Avenue. Marching through the streets of the East Side, the parade will wind up at Rutgers Square, Canal and Essex Streets.

In its appeal to the Jews of New York City to join in the protest demonstration and parade, the committee which is arranging the demonstration says:

“No Jewish man or woman should remain at home. The committee calls upon all Jewish business men past whom the parade will go by to close their places of business during the parade. All nationally-conscious Jews are requested to stop from their work an hour earlier and come to Madison Square Park to join the great Jewish protest demonstration against the decision of the British government.”

Gedaliah Bulbick, president of the American Mizrachi. Orthodox Zionist organization, in issuing a call to all Mizrachists in New York City to join in the demonstration, declared:

“This is one of the most important and most difficult moments in our national life since the destruction of Bether. Our national aspirations are in great danger. The Mizrachi calls upon all Jews to unite in this public protest and show to the world that our right upon Eretz Yisrael, which was given to us by God, no power can take away. We appeal to you on behalf of the martyrs of Hebron and Safed—come in great masses and join the ranks of the marchers!”

Other organizations which will participate in the protest are the Order Sons of Zion, Poale Zion, Zeire Zion, Zionist Revisionists, Young Israel, Independent Order Brith Abraham and many “landsmanshaften.” All Hebrew schools in Greater New York will be closed today as a sign of protest, and the pupils of many of these schools will, together with their teachers, participate in the parade.
