A group of well known Detroit Jews enlisted its services in behalf of the NRA campaign, and active participation in the work of the National Recovery Administration was begun by this group with a lengthy radio address delivered by Rabbi Leon Fram of Temple Beth-El.

In addition to Rabbi Fram, members of this Jewish group are: Harry Cohen, William Friedman, Sidney Alexander, Sol A. Dann, Aaron Feldman, Isaac Finkelstein, Norman Snyder, Henry M. Gottlieb, Leonard Simons, Benjamin B. Gordon, S. Sternberg, Nathaniel H. Goldstick, Miss Henrietta Rosenthal, Henry A. Kramer, Emory Monash.

Judge Joseph A. Moynihan, whose division these Jewish spokesmen joined, lauded them for their devotion to the cause of the new national program.

‘KITCHEN’ PIN MONEY

The Detroit section of the National Council of Jewish Women has created employment for many women who find it necessary to supplement their family income by establishing the “Council Kitchen” for the preserving of fruits. Through the sale of these fruits a number of women are securing a much-needed income.

Many committees representing the Council are active in behalf of the “Kitchen,” under the general chairmanship of Mrs. Victor Weil, with Edith Heavenrich as vice-chairman. Mr. Joseph Welt was the organizer of this project. Mrs. Regene Freund Cohane is president of the Detroit Council.

TREATED FOR HAY FEVER

Patients being treated for hay fever and other allergies have become useful assistants at the North End Clinic, where aid is given to the regular staff, which has been considerably reduced, in care and treatment in the medical department.

Children as well as adults, many of whom have been receiving treatments for a number of years and are acquainted with the clinic’s routine, are to be found on the days of treatment ruling report sheets, filing, running errands, watching other patients for symptoms of reactions after treatments.

This practice, recently adopted, is proving a great service to the clinic, in that it allows the nurses to devote their time to other activities demanding the attention of trained individuals.

Allergy cases, which increase in number to a great extent during the spring and summer seasons, are treated in the medical department of the clinic of which Miss Lillian Anderson is the nurse in charge. Mrs. Eleanor Ford is the director of the clinic. David E. Bressler, one of the leaders in the Mizrachi Youth movement in Detroit, was awarded one of the Chalutz certificates for settlement in Palestine and sails next week.
