“We die together because differences in religion prevented our living together,” was the note found with the dead bodies of Miss Heller, the daughter of a Jewish merchant of Bratislava, and an officer in the Czechoslovakian army, a Gentile.

On Easter Sunday the seventeen-year old Jewish girl disappeared from her father’s house, following his refusal of permission for her to marry the officer. A search was instituted, resulting in the discovery of the double suicide at the officer’s home.
