Rep. Martin Dies, chairman of the House Committee on Un-American Activities, today called upon State and city law enforcement officers to proceed against Nazi and Communist agents in the United States. Warning this country against the fate of Poland, Czechoslovakia, Finland and Norway, he said that while strengthening national defense, Americans should ferret out the enemy from within.

Meanwhile, Fraser S. Gardner, former Washington agent of William Dudley Pelley, pleaded guilty in District Court to one count of indictments charging him with perjury. Gardner pleaded guilty to falsely stating he was not Pelley’s representative when he applied for a job as an investigator for the Dies committee. He can receive a jail sentence of from two to ten years.
