The army general staff, following the termination of the 25-week general strike, adopted new defensive tactics today, effective until Friday, whereby troops will only reply to attacks.

The new policy was announced in a press statement after Lieut. Gen. John Greer Dill, in a proclamation to the 30,000 troops under his command, expressed the hope that disorders would now cease, but stressed the necessity of readiness for instant action.
