Israeli Ambassador Simcha Dinitz and Egyptian Ambassador Ashraf Ghorbal both expressed the hope today for continued progress in Middle East peace negotiations. They voiced this hope at a ceremony of which they were presented gold medals showing Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Premier Menachem Begin at their first meeting in Israel last November.

“I only wish that before long you will be issuing another medal to commemorate peace.” Dinitz said to Charles Andes, board chairman of the Franklin Mint Corporation, the private firm that is issuing the medals. Ghorbal said that because the Mideast issues were being debated “with an open mind and with a desire to understand each other’s problem” signs were good for a fruitful outcome, “we hope very soon.”
