Arab disorders were reported in many parts of Palestine today, marked by a daring raid by a large band on a northern village, several bombings and sniping at High Commissioner Wauchope’s residence in Jerusalem.

An Arab band attacked the village of Tactmata, between Acre and Safed, killing one Ghaffir and capturing nine others who were later released without their guns. Police, troops and Royal Air Force planes are pressing a search for the band. The same band invaded the village of Naura, stealing money, horses and clothing and wounding two villagers who resisted.

An Arab was arrested in a nearby suburb with a Greek rifle in his possession after the High Commissioners residence had been fired upon.

A bomb damaged the railway between Jerusalem and Lydda. Two Arabs were arrested in the Rehavia quarter of Jerusalem for possession of a hand grenade. Two others were arrested in the Nachlat Achim quarter after a bomb explosion there.

The Hebrew newspaper Haboker reported discovery and deciphering by the Criminal Investigation Department of two code letters addressed to Rassim Khalidi, secretary of the Arab Cooperative Societies who was recently sentenced to three months in jail for bringing money to Arab terrorists, by arms dealers referring to purchases of German arms. Discovery of the letters, the paper reported, led to confiscation of deposits in several banks and audit of the books of several Arab concerns.

The rabbinical council of the Agudath Israel, orthodox non-Zionist organization, proclaimed tomorrow a day of fast and prayers for amelioration of the troubled situation in Palestine.
