Donor countries, including the United States, may double aid to the Palestinians if they implement reforms after an election next month. The New York Times quoted a senior Bush administration official last Friday as saying that donor nations are considering a four-year package worth $6 billion to $8 billion if the Palestinians crack down on terrorism and improve financial transparency after Jan. 9 presidential elections.
