Dr. Arthur Hantke. Zionist pioneer and one of Dr. Theodor Herzl’s closest assistants in the early days of the Zionist movement, died here today at the age of 81. Funeral services will be held here tomorrow.
Dr. Hantke was chairman of the Keren Kayesod–the Israel Foundation Fund–which is the fund-raising arm of the Jewish Agency. He was also for many years a director of the Jewish National Fund. Since the fifth World Zionist Congress, he was a prominent figure at the international-Zionist conclaves and for some years was a member of the World Zionist Executive. He was born in Berlin and settled in Palestine in 1926.
