Dr. Danuta Czaykowska-Medryk, 51, a Warsaw dentist who was an inmate in the Maidanek death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland, testified Friday at a deportation hearing for Mrs. Russell Ryan of Queens that she saw her help pick Jewish women inmates in Aug. 1943 for the Nazi gas chambers. She testified also that in the same month she saw Mrs. Ryan, then Hermine Braunsteiner, push children into a truck for delivery to the gas chambers. The dentist pointed to Mrs. Ryan as the former Maidanek prison guard and said: “The moment I walked in, I recognized her.” Mrs. Ryan has testified that she had known nothing about the events in the death camp. The government is seeking her deportation as an alien of undesirable character.
