Prof. Ernst Freund, one of the foremost Austrian medical scientists and director of the Pearson Foundation for cancer research, died here yesterday at the age of 82.

Dr. Freund, a Jew, was forced to flee Vienna in 1938 when the Nazis took power. When Dr. Freund arrived in England, Frederick Pearson established another foundation to permit him and other scientists to continue their research. He was an authority in nutrition and food chemistry, and during his 55 years of work he concentrated his fight against cancer in these fields.
