Dr Goldmann Leaves for Europe. Israel Inaugurates “Goldmann Forest”

Dr Nahum Goldmann chairman of the Jewish Agency left by air for Europe today. While he is abroad Dr Goldmann will keep in close touch with developments on the international scene affecting Israel and with the progress of the informal talks between the Austrian Government and representatives of the Committee for Jewish Claims on Austria, now underway in Vienna Dr Goldmann will also visit North Africa in connection with the plight of Jews in that region. During his absence, Mrs. Rose L. Hal ### will be acting chairman of the Jewish Agency executive in New York.

The Nahum Goldmann Forest was inaugurated today in Israel in the presence of government and Zionist leaders. The first trees were planted by Pinchas Rosen, Minister of Justice; Dr. Abraham Granot chairman of the board of directors of the Jewish National ###d; Berl Locker chairman of the Jewish Agency executive in Jerusalem and Max Bressler vice president of the Zionist Organization of America. In his address Mr Bressler promised an all-out effort on behalf of American Zionists to plant 60,000 trees in the Nahum Goldmann Forest in honor of the 60th birthday of Dr Goldmann. The site of the forest is the Judean Hills overlooking the city of Jerusalem.
