A World Jewish Congress delegation headed by Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president, left here today after a three-day visit to Yugoslav Jewish communities as part of their tour of Jewish communities in Eastern Europe.
Dr. Goldmann, accompanied by Dr. Ladislaw Kadelburg, president of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Yugoslavia, was received by Geza Tikwicki, a member of the executive council of the Yugoslav Government. He also paid a visit to the chairman of the Belgrade Council, Mayor Branko Peschitz.
Earlier, some 70 Jewish leaders from all parts of Yugoslavia attended a reception for the WJC delegation given by the Yugoslav Jewish Federation. During the reception, discussions were held on such topics as neo-Nazism, compensation for Nazi victims, Jewish identity and Jewish youth. The WJC leaders were also guests of honor at a banquet given by the Federation.
The WJC delegation also visited the major Jewish institutions in Belgrade as well as to the studio of the sculptor Nander Gild who is working on the international monument at the site of the wartime Dachau concentration camp for which his design won first prize. The WJC leaders also laid wreaths at the monuments for the Jewish partisans and martyrs.
