Dr. Joshua Thon, prominent Zionist leader, writer, statesman and rabbi, died here today. He was 66 years old.
Dr. Thon was many times a deputy in the Sejm, the Polish Parliament, having been elected a member of the first parliament to be convened after Poland won her independence. He was chairman of the Jewish Deputies Club of the Sejm.
In 1919, Dr. Thon was vice-chairman of the Committee of Jewish Delegations, which pleaded the Jewish case before the Peace Conference of Versailles. He was a delegate to many Zionist congresses, a member of the World Zionist Organization’s General Council and the council of the Jewish Agency for Palestine.
