The Jewish Institute of Religion announces that Dr. Julian J. Obermann, Professor of Bible and Semitic Philology, has withdrawn from its faculty.
Dr. Obermann has taught at the Institute for nearly ten years. Before having been called to the Institute, he taught Semitic languages and Literature at the University of Hamburg. In the Spring term of 1929, while on a leave of absence, he was guest-professor at the Hebrew University in Jersalem. In the summer of 1932, he conducted the Semitic Department of the Language Institute, held under the auspices of the College of the City of New York.
Professor Obermann is the author of various works bearing on the Old Testament, Judaism, Mohammedanism, and Semitic religious history.
Dr. Obermann plans to make a prolonged trip to the Orient as soon as the literary labors in which he has been recently engaged will permit.
