Dr. Shimon Kanovitz, a member of the Israel Parliament and a candidate for re-election to the Knesset under the Liberal Party’s banner, died here today, aged 61.
Born in Germany, Dr. Kanovitz was educated at Koenigsberg and Frankfurt Universities, and emigrated to Palestine after the advent of Hitler’s regime, in 1933. He was a prominent private practitioner, and also lectured at the Medical School of the Hebrew University. For years, he has been active in the organization of Austrian and German immigrants.
