More than 100 Jewish leaders from the United States, Canada and Mexico paid tribute yesterday to Dr. Maurice L. Perlzweig, the World Jewish Congress’ Director of International Affairs, at a luncheon marking his 70th birthday. Dr. Nahum Goldmann, WJC president, presented to Dr. Perlzweig an engraved album containing tributes from Jewish leaders and communities in over 60 countries. He praised Dr. Perlzweig’s “loyalty to his people and devotion to the ideas of the World Jewish Congress.”

Tributes were also paid to Dr. Perlzweig by Professor John P. Humphrey, the director of the Human Rights Division of the U.N.; Michael Arnon, Consul-General of Israel; and Rabbi Dr. Max Nussbaum, chairman of the American Section of the World Jewish Congress. Samuel Bronfman, presiding at the luncheon, said that Dr. Perlzweig had done “a yeoman’s job for Jewry, for human rights, for all mankind.”
