Dr. Reuben Rabinovitch, a prominent Jewish physician and war hero, died here yesterday of a heart attack at the age of 56. Born in Montreal, Dr. Rabinovitch was educated in Montreal, New York and Paris. Caught in Paris at the outbreak of the Second World War, he worked with the French underground aiding injured Allied airmen. He was imprisoned by the Germans, and spent 15 months in a prison camp. In 1947, he was awarded the United States Medal of Freedom in recognition of his bravery and help to Allied airmen.
He was senior neurologist at the Jewish General Hospital here, and assistant professor of neurology at McGill University.
