Dr. Shimshon Rosenbaum, former Minister of Jewish Affairs in Lithuania and until recently the Consul General of Lithuania in Palestine, died Thursday in Tel Aviv at the age of seventy-five.
Dr. Rosenbaum was one of the outstanding figures in Jewish life. He played an important role in Russia under the Czar, fighting for Jewish rights there. When Lithuania seceded from Russia and was proclaimed an independent country, he was appointed a member of the Lithuanian Cabinet, in charge of Jewish affairs.
Later when constitutional changes were made in Lithuania and when Jewish autonomy there was rescinded, Dr. Rosenbaum left for Palestine, where he was appointed Honorary Consul General of Lithuania.
Last year Dr. Rosenbaum was relieved of his diplomatic post. He nevertheless remained in Palestine, making his home in Tel Aviv.
Dr. Rosenbaum was a holder of the Order of Prince Gedimin, conferred upon him by the Lithuanian government on the occasion of the celebration of his seventieth birthday.
