The 25th anniversary of the Jewish Institute of Religion was marked tonight at a dinner honoring Dr. Stephen S. Wise, its founder and president at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.
Speakers, who included Sin Leon Simon, chairman of the Hebrew University executive council, and Dr. Maurise Eisendrath, president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, hailed Dr. Wise for having established a theological seminary at which students from all branches of the Jewish faith are trained. Dr. Wise, in a brief address, stressed that the Institute prepares rabbis for service in Reform, Orthodox and Conservative congregations.
