Dr. Ephraim Washitz, former president of the Zionist-Revisionist Organization in Palestine and co-president of the Jerusalem Jewish Community Council, died here today. He was 66 years old.
A prominent lawyer, Dr. Washitz came to Palestine from Eastern Galicia after that territory became a part of Poland as a result of World War I. He was compelled to leave Lwow, the capital of Eastern Galicia, in 1918 because of anti-Polish articles which he published in the jewish press there. He served as an officer in the Austrian Army during the First World War, prior to which he was very active in the Zionist movement in Galicia.
