An amendment to the Immigration Ordinance, published in an extra issue of the Official Gazette today, provides drastic increases in fines and prison terms for ship owners, mariners and harbor employes who aid in smuggling of illegal immigrants. Government vessels are authorized to pursue suspected boats and “fire at or into” them if they do not halt.

The Jerusalem military court sentenced to prison terms of two years each two Jews, Gelbloom and Bronstein, who were convicted of keeping a revolver in their room. A friend in the room at the time of the raid was acquitted.
