Despite the Koran’s injunction against intemperance, drunkenness is on the increase in Jaffa. Yesterday a Jaffa magistrate, who complained of tens of cases of drunkenness, sentenced an Arab youth to six months in prison for stabbing a comrade with a pen knife while drunk.
