Wilhelm Pieck, President of the East German Republic, and Otto Nuschke, Deputy Premier of his government, this week-end received Chief Rabbi Steven S. Schwarzchild of Berlin and Julius Meyer, president of the Federation of Jewish communities of the Soviet zone of Germany.
The subject of the conference was the providing of rabbinical services and assistance for Jews in the Soviet zone, both residents and prisoners. Rabbi Schwarzchild, an American citizen, said that the atmosphere during the parley was friendly.
