Israel’s desire to nullify a growing Arab-Soviet drive to isolate Israel and the United States at the United Nations General Assembly was reflected at yesterday’s Cabinet meeting in a two-hour discussion of the relevant items on the Assembly’s Provisional Agenda. The difficulty of Israel’s attempt to block the drive was predicted by Foreign Minister Abba Eban and by Yosef Tekoah, the ambassador to the UN, who was to return there today after two weeks of consultations here. The Assembly opens Sept. 21.
