Edel Horwitz, chairman of the South African Zionist Federation, told an Israel 13th anniversary celebration that the bonds of friendship between the Union of South Africa and Israel “have always been strong” and that “in the years which lie ahead these bonds will grow even stronger between the Republic of South Africa and Israel. ” Milner Park here was crowded with 20, 000 people from Johannesburg and neighboring towns for the event which included a flag ceremony for those fallen in Israel’s War of Independence.
