Egypt has appointed a new ambassador to Israel. After recalling its long-time envoy shortly after the intifada began in Sept. 2000, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry is expected to name Mohsan al Na’amani as the new ambassador. Egypt has been under pressure from the United States to do more to moderate the tension between Israel and the Palestinians, according to the Arab newspaper Al Quds al Arabi.
