President Eisenhower yesterday appointed Rear Admiral Lewis L. Strauss, former member of the Atomic Energy Commission, as his special assistant on atomic energy matters.
Admiral Strauss, who will act as liaison advisor to the President on such problems, served with the AEC from 1946-50. Since that time he has served as adviser to various Congressional and executive agencies.
