President Eisenhower during his current visit here, has discussed with Indian Prime Minister Nehru, the Middle East situation, particularly the United Arab Republic-Israel dispute over Suez Canal passage, it was reliably learned here today.

Both leaders showed identical views regarding the desirability of unhampered passage through the canal and it is understood that President Eisenhower urged Mr. Nehru to take active steps to influence Arab circles to bring down the hostile attitude against Israel.

It was disclosed today that Egyptian President Nasser sent an important message last week through the Indian Ambassador in Cairo, briefing Mr. Nehru on the Middle East situation.
