Mark Workman, communal leader and philanthropist, has accepted the appointment as honorary chairman of the Canadian Jewish Congress Relief Campaign for stricken German and Eastern European Jewry. Other national figures in Canadian Jewish life have signified their intention to give the drive their active support.

The Canadian Jewish Congress Emergency Appeal throughout the Dominion for $250,000 will be launched September 12 and will continue to the 26th. The money is to be divided among the following four agencies: Joint Distribution Committee, Jewish Agency for Palestine, ORT and HICEM.

According to an agreement reached with the Farband of Polish Jews in Canada, $1,000 will be given for the relief of the flood sufferers in Poland.

A conference of representatives of Montreal Jewish organizations was held here tonight.
