That the establishment shortly of an electoral system in the administration of Palestine was contemplated, was the statement made by Col. George S. Symes, civil secretary of the Palestine government, in his explanations before the Permanent Mandates Commission of the League of Nations in session here.
Col. Symes gave the commission details of the administration of the communities in the country and of the local autonomy enjoyed by the Jews, Christians and Moslems.
As to the economic situation in Palestine, there is no reason for anxiety, Col. Symes stated, in view of the very great possibilities for the development of agriculture in the country. The tourist traffic is increasing and constitutes an important factor in the economic growth of the country.
The Permanent Mandates Commission concluded its examination of the report concerning the carrying out of the Palestine mandate today. It is expected that the Commission will end its session on Saturday.
The delegates of the Vaad Leumi, the National Council of Palestine Jewry, which came here for the purpose of presenting the condition of Palestine Jews to the Mandates Commission, left Geneva today. They expressed satisfaction with the result of their mission. The delegates had occasion to make important contacts with international figures in the League.
Rabbi Uziel left for London. Dr. Arlosoroff is proceeding to London via Berlin. M. Dizengoff, the other member of the delegation, will leave Saturday for London via Paris.
