Bedouin tribesmen belonging to the Adwan and Belk klans attacked Sunday the military camp of Emir Abdullah, ruler of Transjordania, according to reports just received here.
The attackers are reported to have retreated, after sustaining heavy losses.
The reports add that the assault on Abdullah’s camp was probably carried out by a raiding party. Theories of a general uprising throughout the Palestine territory east of the Jordan River are eagerly discounted.
A section of the press here connects the movement with that of the rebel Ibn Saud, who stated recently he was mobilizing a force of 15,000 troops for the purpose of occupying Emir Abdullah’s territory, which formerly was part of Palestine but which was declared autonomous in May, with Abdullah, elder son of King Hussein of the Hedjaz, as ruler.
