The National Democratic organ, Gazeta Warsawska, demands that the Jews in Poland should only be subjects of the Polish State, but not citizens of the country. As such, it says, the Jews may enjoy the legal protection of the Polish State, but they should not enjoy citizenship rights, should not be elected to Parliament or be state officials.
“There are millions of Poles who live in America, Germany, Czecho-Slovakia and Lithuania,” it says, “and although they are not Polish citizens, they are as much Jews as anyone who lives in Warsaw or Cracow, while every Jew who lives in Warsaw is more alien to us than a Spaniard, a Frenchman, or a Japanese.”
