Official returns of the municipal elections in Poznan revealed today that the anti-Semitic Endeks (National Democrats) won a substantial majority in the City Council, capturing more than 50 of the 75 seats. The Poznan returns reversed the results of the elections in Warsaw and Lodz, where the radical anti-Semites were defeated. In Warsaw, the Endeks captured only 11 of 100 seats in the City Council, as against 27 for the Polish Socialists and 19 for Jewish parties. In Lodz, the Endeks won 20 seats compared to 17 for the Jewish parties (reported as 13 yesterday) and 35 for the Polish Socialists. Fifteen Jews won seats in the Cracow Council.
Police investigating anti-Semitic violence by Endeks during the past two weeks today discovered an arsenal containing military rifles, bombs, ammunition and knives. Four Endek students were arrested when they were caught in the act of throwing out a parcel containing a bomb, two grenades and a quantity of bullets.
