English Confident of Victory, Says Backer at Luncheon

Full confidence in British victory is shared by every man and woman in England, Mr. George Backer declared at a luncheon tendered him by friends at the Waldorf-Astoria welcoming him back from a seven week trip to England. Mr. Leonard M. Masius, Executive of Lord and Thomas, presided.

Mr. Backer also spoke of the situation of the Jewish refugees in England. He commended the Ort activities and declared that recent German and Austrian refugees, trained in the Ort schools in England are already supporting themselves and are contributing to the country’s productive capacity.
