The Reconstruction Fund of the Ort, the Jewish society for the promotion of agriculture and trades among the Jews in Russia, has gained the support of influential Jewish circles in this city. Many prominent Jews have already subscribed to the Fund which plans to raise the sum of $1,000,000 for the purpose of continuing the reconstruction work in Russia, Carried on by the Ort. Among those who have pledged their support are Israel Zangwill, Mr. Spielman, the Vice President of the Anglo-Jewish Association and Dr. Moses Gaster who has volunteered his services to the work.
The visit of Mr. David Lvovitch, a member of the European Committee of the Ort, has been very successful here, as in France where he enlisted the support of many prominent Jews. It is expected that the first series of the Fund, amounting to $100,000. will be sold here within a very short time.
