The World Jewish Congress announced today it had called a special European conference, to be held here December 1-2, to consider the problem of growing Nazi, Fascist anti-Semitic activities.
The conference will be attended by representatives of European Jewish communities and organizations affiliated with the WC and will hear reports on such activities in a number of countries. It will also hear reports on the overt and covert international links of the neo-Nazi and fascist groups for which, the WC said, there was a growing volume of evidence.
Sixteen neo-Nazis were held in jail today for a hearing November 9, on charges they staged a tour of London’s heavily Jewish East End in a truck, shouting offensive remarks about Jews and Negroes, In court this weekend, they shouted slogans on behalf of Fascist Oswald Mosley’s British Union movement.
Meanwhile, today, the Association of Jewish Ex-servicemen launched a nationwide campaign to train and organize Anglo-Jewish youth,” so that they will be better prepared to cope with anti-Semitism.” The main purpose of the project is to make young Jews realize the dangers of anti-Semitism, and stimulate their interest in Jewish communal affairs, according to a spokesman for the veterans group.
