An exhibition of priceless Biblical relics brought from Israel will be presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, it was announced at a press conference here today arranged by the American Fund for Israel Institutions. Louis M. Rabinowitz is chairman of the exhibit.
The exhibition, which will open on June 14, encompasses a sweeping panorama of Biblical life from prehistoric times to the 6th century A.D., according to Dr. Sterling A. Callisen, Dean of Education at the Metropolitan. Israeli collections loaned their outstanding specimens to provide a myriad of display items, ranging in size from a giant, seven-ton statue to tiny seals and coins, requiring over 20 air and sea shipments to move to America. The majority of the objects have never before been shown in the Western Hemisphere.
