The Daily Telegraph’s aviation correspondent predicted today that Israel will order her aircraft to destroy any missile-carrying Egyptian patrol boats approaching within 15 miles of Israeli naval units.
“They could easily be destroyed by Israeli aircraft,” the writer said, noting the alternative “would be for Israel to keep her naval craft off the high seas altogether.” He said “there is no defense against the ‘Styx’ type Russian supersonic homing missiles. They probably use infra-red guidance systems which cannot be jammed.”
