Bela Fabian, fearless Jewish deputy in the Hungarian parliament, accepted the challenge to a duel of Understate Secretary Sztranyavsky, whom he charged with responsibility for the anti-Jewish student excesses.

Deputy Fabian chose as his seconds the Jewish deputies Paul Sandor and Marcel Baracs.
