Far-right French politician Jean-Marie Le Pen’s mandate as a European deputy was suspended by the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Monday’s suspension ratifies a decision made last month by the European Court of Justice, which suspended Le Pen for physically attacking a French socialist politician near Paris in 1998. Le Pen filed an appeal against the court decision last Friday.
