The National Conference on Soviet Jewry has learned that Moisey Goldfeld, father of Anatoly Goldfeld, an imprisoned Jewish activist, has been fired from his job without any reason given. Moisey Goldfeld, who is 62 years old, was fired two years before his retirement age.

Anatoly Goldfeld, a 25-year-old Leningrad engineer, and a bachelor, was arrested June 15, 1970 for alleged “anti-Soviet” activities. He was convicted in the Kishinev trial of June 21, 1971 and sentenced to four years in prison.

In relaying the news, Richard Maass, chairman of the NCSJ, commented that “the fact that the father has been fired seems to be another instance in the continuing Soviet policy of harassing all those involved in Jewish activism. Obviously, this is a case of a father paying for his son’s activities.”
